Recliner Reminiscences

In 2012, a young woman I met through Fanstory encouraged me to write on Facebook. She called me bhaiya (brother) and treated me as family. That’s how I started a project called A Page to Forget. At that time, I had only two grandsons; the other two grandchildren weren’t born yet.
“Where can you find pure, unconditional love?” The answer, for me, came through two God-sent angels—my two grandsons. Their love, care, and affection have filled my heart with boundless happiness.
Elder Grandson:
At 10 years old, he exudes love for everyone, especially younger children. After I lost my vision, he became fiercely protective of me. I once played a prank on him by hiding, and when my family asked him, “Where’s granddad? We told you to watch over him,” panic spread across his face. He was on the verge of tears, thinking I had been left behind somewhere. I revealed myself just in time, and his outburst was unforgettable: “Don’t ever joke with me like that again!”
Another time, when our house was under construction, he stopped me from entering, worried I might get hurt. Once, while playing with a bat and ball, the ball hit my face. He rushed over, concerned, and asked if my eyes were okay, holding up fingers and asking me to count them to ensure I could still see. His love and care are endless.
Younger Grandson:
Now 21 months old, we first met him when he was just six months old during a trip to the U.S. in 2011. From day one, he bonded with us. He often napped on my lap and would come running to me as soon as he woke up.
When my younger son visited with his family, the little one had grown a bit but hadn’t lost his affection. As soon as he sat on my lap, he fell asleep. Every morning, the first word out of his mouth would be “Thatha!” (granddad), and he’d come downstairs, repeating it until I held him. On the night they were to return to the U.S., he kissed me repeatedly, sensing the farewell. Even now, when we see him on a webcam, he tries to kiss the screen and offer me his food.
The two brothers are inseparable—best friends who can’t go long without seeing each other. Watching them together fills my heart with peace and happiness beyond measure.
God bless them.
