During this time, my elder son was visiting India. It was decided that my wife and I would accompany him back to the USA. More than six years had passed since our last visit to the USA, and a whole new avenue of opportunities blossomed as time fillers.
Our younger son had moved into his own house, and we landed there excitedly. Exploring the house was a pleasant experience in itself. We started going for regular walks. With fewer crowds in malls, restaurants, and shops, my confidence was boosted, and I accompanied my family wherever they went. Visiting nurseries became a great passion; these nurseries were huge, and we could easily spend three to four hours there. At that time, my eyesight in one eye was slightly better. The tulip festival was a great attraction in and around Seattle. How could we miss that? Even on the narrow paths between rows of tulips, I managed to walk. The sight of the colorful tulips was so pleasing to the eyes, heart, and senses that I didn’t notice the treacherous narrow paths. Of course, my entire family was there to guide me.
Having managed the air travel from India to the USA for the first time since losing my vision, flights no longer scared me. So off we went to San Francisco and the Bay Area—a short but memorable visit.
And then came the crowning glory: a road trip to Banff and Jasper National Park, one of the most scenic drives in the world. I will write about this later, but I must mention the ‘bear’ incident that happened there.
The one-week trip was one of the best experiences of my life.
Meanwhile, Amazon had come out with the larger-sized Kindle DX, giving me a new tool to read a little faster.
So, where was the time? Suddenly, 24 hours were not enough!
